HIGHER EDUCATION
Turn classroom knowledge into professional competence.
Your students can pass exams. Can they hold the conversation? They rehearse the calls, meetings, and consultations they will have on the job, then get a coaching debrief and transcript-backed evidence you can stand behind.
WHO THIS IS FOR
Built for educators who know that exams test what students remember, not what they can do.
If you see yourself in any of these, the rest of this page is for you.
Faculty & Course Coordinators
"I teach consultative selling for 14 weeks. My students can write about it. I have no idea if they can do it. And I can't run individual role-plays with 60 people."
Programme Directors (MBA / BBA / PGDM)
"We claim our graduates are industry-ready. Our placement feedback says otherwise. I need something that actually develops the professional competence we promise in our brochure."
Deans (Academic / Faculty)
"NEP wants outcome-based learning. NAAC wants evidence. I need pedagogical innovation that isn't just a buzzword in the Self-Study Report."
IQAC & Accreditation Leads
"Our CO/PO attainment evidence is mostly exam scores and project reports. For skills like communication, negotiation, and client management, I need a better category of proof."
Institution Director / Vice Chancellor
"What are we doing that other institutions aren't? How do I differentiate this programme in a market with 4,000 B-schools?"
WHO WE'RE TALKING TO
The institutions we're talking to.
Altius is not built for a single tier. The platform is relevant anywhere students are expected to develop professional conversational competence and the institution needs evidence that they have.
| Segment | Examples | Why Altius fits |
|---|---|---|
| Autonomous B-schools (PGDM/MBA) | Top-tier autonomous institutes; AACSB/EQUIS aspirants | High demand for AACSB/EQUIS proof + employment outcomes |
| University-affiliated B-schools | Management departments under state and central universities | OBE-driven, seeking PO attainment evidence |
| BBA / BMS / BCom (UG) | Undergraduate management programmes at colleges nationwide | Outcome-based curricula; placement differentiators |
| Law schools | National law universities and private law colleges | Client counselling, negotiation, advocacy practice |
| Medical & nursing colleges | Major medical and nursing colleges | Patient communication, informed consent, breaking bad news |
| Hotel management & hospitality | Hotel management institutes and private hospitality programmes | Guest handling, service recovery, upselling under pressure |
| Engineering colleges with MBA | Autonomous engineering institutions with MBA programmes | Communication skills for placement; PO attainment for NBA |
WHY THIS, WHY NOW
Five problems Altius solves.
It is remarkably hard to close the knowing-doing gap with the tools most institutions currently have. Here is where Altius earns its place.
1° The OBE compliance gap
How do you assess whether a student can conduct a consultative sales conversation? Or deliver constructive feedback? Or negotiate across multiple issues with a difficult counterpart?
Most institutions use written exams, presentations, or group assignments. These test whether students can describe the skill. They do not test whether students can do it. Altius produces per-criterion behaviour scores that map directly to your Course Outcomes. Auditable. Timestamped. Individual.
2° The case method ceiling
A case study is one-directional. The student reads, analyses, and presents. But the customer in the case does not push back. The CEO does not get defensive. The vendor does not change position based on what the student says.
The case method teaches students to think about a conversation. It does not teach them to have one. Altius is what happens when the case study talks back.
3° The faculty bandwidth problem
Sixty students. Ten minutes each. Ten hours of one-on-one role-play per exercise, in a single course. The maths does not work.
Group role-plays are the usual workaround, but only two students practise while the rest watch. The social dynamics of the classroom mean everyone plays it safe. Altius runs the same scenario for sixty students in the same week, privately, individually, with a coaching debrief for each.
WHAT STUDENTS SAID
94%
Rated the experience good or excellent.
8 in 10
Said it deepened their understanding more than a lecture alone.
Rated 4.4/5 by students in pilot cohorts.
4° The employability evidence problem
Placement cells hear it every year. Recruiters say: "Your students know theory, but can't hold a conversation." HR managers say: "Strong on frameworks, weak on application."
Students spend hundreds of hours preparing for exams. They spend almost no time practising the conversations they will have in their first job. Altius gives you transcript-backed, scored evidence of what students did.
5° The experiential learning documentation gap
Every Self-Study Report claims the institution practises experiential learning. Industry visits. Live projects. Guest lectures. Internships. Simulations.
When accreditation panels dig into the evidence, it is often thin. Attendance logs. Project cover pages. Supervisor sign-offs. These document participation. They do not document competence. Altius generates the artefact accreditation panels actually want: a full transcript, per-criterion scores, qualitative feedback, and a timestamp.
THE STUDENT EXPERIENCE
Four steps. One conversation that matters.
Step 1° The briefing
The student receives a scenario link and reads a contextual brief, the way a professional would prepare before a real client meeting. The brief sets the scene, provides background, and establishes what the student needs to figure out through the conversation itself.
Step 2° The conversation
The student chats with an AI persona built for that scenario. The persona has a name, a role, a backstory, hidden concerns, and emotional responses that shift based on what the student says. Ask good questions, the persona opens up. Pitch too early, the persona shuts down. Show empathy, the persona engages. Ignore the context, the persona calls it out.
Step 3° The coaching debrief
Immediately after the conversation ends, Altius generates a structured evaluation: strengths, areas to improve, per-criterion scores, and an overall assessment. Not a grade. A mirror.
Step 4° The faculty dashboard
You see who has completed the simulation and who has not. You can read any student's full transcript. The scored debrief is not in the dashboard; faculty or a programme specialist delivers it from the Altius analysis. Cohort patterns still land for the programme: "32 of 58 students scored below 3 on probing depth" is a concrete input for your next lecture. Less time grading. More time teaching.
COURSE FIT
Practice environments built for specific academic courses.
Not every course needs Altius. The sweet spot is any course where a stated Course Outcome involves conversational or interpersonal competence, and is currently assessed through written exams or presentations.

Try a scenario °FEATURED SCENARIOS
Three conversations. Three disciplines.
The Digital Disconnect
Kabir Mehta is venting two weeks before Diwali. A customs hold has his CEO livid. Find the real problem under the anger before you pitch.
This is a B2B discovery scenario. The skill is listening through frustration, separating the stated problem from the actual problem, and connecting your solution to what the client actually cares about.
Try this scenarioEighteen Lakhs, No Reply
A bounced cheque, a composed client, and a folder that is too neat. Cover for a delayed partner. Find the case under the case.
This is a client counselling scenario for law students practising as junior associates. The skill is hearing the case under the case, holding conflicting goals without correcting the client, and delivering disappointing process reality in a way that still feels fair.
Try this scenarioJust Borderline
Manoj Patil came in for a routine loan medical, sure he was fine. His numbers say Type 2 diabetes. He wants to hear 'borderline'. Truck waiting outside.
This is a patient communication scenario for medical interns. The skill is breaking difficult news in a way the patient can actually hear and hold, without minimising the reality or burying him in it.
Try this scenarioWhat Altius assesses. What faculty still assess.
For law, medical, and similar professional fields, Altius develops the conversational and relational competence that sits alongside domain expertise. It evaluates how students communicate, not whether what they communicated was legally or clinically accurate.
The AI persona reacts as a real client or patient would: emotionally, humanly, sometimes irrationally. It does not assess domain-specific reasoning. That remains the faculty's authority. Altius complements existing programme assessment. It does not replace it.
EVIDENCE THAT TRAVELS
Evidence accreditation panels actually want to see.
Altius criterion scores map directly to Course Outcomes. The percentage of students above threshold becomes your CO attainment metric. The transcripts, debriefs, and cohort analytics sit alongside as supporting evidence.
| Framework | Scope | What it asks for | What Altius provides |
|---|---|---|---|
| NAAC | All Indian HEIs | Criterion 2: Teaching-Learning and Evaluation. Criterion 5: Student Support and Progression. Evidence of innovative pedagogy and experiential learning. | Simulation-based assessment with timestamped transcripts, per-student scoring, and cohort analytics. Direct evidence of experiential learning and its outcomes. |
| NBA | Programme-level (B-school, Engineering) | Course Outcomes, Programme Outcomes, and quantitative attainment calculation. | Altius criterion scores map to COs. % of students above threshold = attainment metric. Individual and aggregate. |
| NEP 2020 | National policy | Outcome-based, experiential, multidisciplinary. Emphasis on critical thinking and professional competence. | Altius is experiential, measurable, and scalable. It assesses doing, not just knowing. |
| AACSB | International B-school accreditation | Assurance of Learning (AoL) standards. Direct assessment of learning goals at programme level. | Simulation-based assessment as a direct AoL measure. Rubric maps to programme-level learning goals. |
| EQUIS | International B-school accreditation | Practical relevance. Connection to professional practice. Innovation in programme design. | Scenarios modelled on real industry conversations. Students practise professional interactions, not just study them. |
| AMBA | MBA programme accreditation | Innovation in programme design and delivery. Evidence of professional skills development. | AI-powered practice simulation as a differentiator in the accreditation narrative. |
Most accreditation evidence is documentation of intent: syllabi, programme outcomes statements, faculty CVs. A smaller portion is output evidence: grades, placement rates, alumni surveys. Altius creates a third category: process evidence. A timestamped, scored, AI-evaluated record of a student actually doing the skill, mid-programme. This is what IQAC and visiting committees increasingly want, and what no classroom method currently produces at scale.
We can walk you through how Altius maps to your specific CO/PO framework in a 30-minute conversation.
NOT A PROPOSAL
Altius is live. And it is tested.
° A deployed B2B discovery simulation
Students play an account executive doing discovery with a C-suite buyer in crisis. The scenario evaluates crisis-appropriate tone, probing depth, stakeholder awareness, and needs discovery. Running today.
° Customer-centricity simulations at scale
Deployed for a leading Indian automotive OEM. 40 managers across three divisions practised with the same AI persona and received individualised coaching debriefs. The platform works at scale, across diverse professional contexts.
° Modular scenario architecture
Each simulation is self-contained: persona, scene, briefing, rubric. New scenarios for new courses can be designed, tested, and deployed in days. Not weeks. Not a semester.
° Production-grade platform
Magic-link authentication. Role-based access. Organisation-level data isolation. Streaming AI responses. Automated coaching evaluation. No app to install. No LMS integration required.
THE ALTIUS DIFFERENCE
Different from what you currently use
| What you currently use | What's missing | How Altius is different |
|---|---|---|
| Case studies | Pressure. A case study is read, discussed, resolved together. No one is on the spot. | In Altius, the student is alone with the persona. There is no group to hide behind. They must respond, in real time, with the clock running. |
| Viva voce | The examiner knows the answer. The student knows this. It's a performance, not a real conversation. | In Altius, the persona doesn't know what the student will say. The persona reacts. The student must adapt. |
| Peer role-plays | Peers don't know the character. They break role. They're too kind or too theatrical. | Altius is consistent. Vikram is always Vikram. The patient is always in denial. The buyer is always distracted. |
| MCQ & written tests | They test recall and analysis. They cannot test the ability to handle a difficult conversation in real time. | Altius tests what no written exam can: the student's actual behaviour under social and professional pressure. |
| Presentations | One-way. No pushback. No difficult questions from a real interlocutor. | In Altius, the other party responds, objects, deflects, and challenges. The student must think on their feet. |
| Internship evaluations | Depend on supervisor perception, vary by context, cannot be standardised or repeated. | Every Altius session is standardised, repeatable, scored on the same rubric, and generates comparable data across cohorts. |
HOW WE SET THIS UP
You define the competence. We build the practice. Your batch runs in a week.
This is the faculty path from brief to accreditation-ready artefacts. The four steps above are the student session.
1° Brief
You name the conversation students must be able to hold, the counterpart, and the competences or Course Outcomes you need to assess. What does a strong student do that a weak one doesn't?
2° Design
We build the persona, the student briefing, and a rubric mapped to those outcomes. Days, not a semester project.
3° Review
Faculty play-test and sign off. In regulated fields (law, medicine), you remain the authority on professional accuracy; Altius assesses how students communicate under pressure. Live in one to two weeks from a clear brief.
4° Cohort
We invite the batch by email. Magic link. Browser on phone or laptop. No app. No LMS required.
5° Run
Students practise asynchronously: a full batch of 30 to 60 in the same week, privately, without 60 live role-plays. You see completion and can open any transcript.
6° Debrief & evidence
Faculty or a programme specialist delivers the coaching debrief from the Altius analysis. You keep timestamped transcripts, criterion scores, and cohort patterns you can file for IQAC, CO/PO attainment, or AoL: not just attendance logs.
A typical first run is one batch of 30 to 60 on a single scenario. See the pilot shape below.
PRACTICALITIES
The operating model is simple. On purpose.
| Setup time | One to two weeks from brief to live scenario. |
|---|---|
| Faculty involvement | You describe the conversation, the counterpart, and the competences you want assessed. We build the persona, the briefing, and the rubric. You review. We iterate. |
| Student access | Browser-based. Phone or laptop. No app to install. |
| Infrastructure | None. Cloud-hosted. Works on any device with internet. |
| Cohort management | We invite the batch by email. You track completion and transcripts. Scores and debriefs support your assessment and accreditation file via the specialist or faculty coaching path. |
| Data and privacy | Student data is institution-isolated. Transcripts and scores are stored securely and exportable for accreditation documentation. |
| Pricing | Per-scenario, per-cohort. No platform licence. No annual contract unless you want one. |
WHAT STUDENTS SAID
The kind of feedback that changes how a faculty meeting goes.
"It moves beyond theory and puts you in a realistic, high-pressure situation where problems aren't clearly defined and different stakeholders have different priorities."
"While logic and data help define the problem, the simulation made it clear that emotions, context, and human limitations often decide how and when a decision actually gets made."
"It reinforced that real-world decisions, especially under pressure, benefit from slowing down, listening carefully, and aligning multiple perspectives before committing."
"It goes beyond theory and forces students to think from multiple stakeholder perspectives, to balance urgency with strategy, and communicate thoughtfully rather than just pitch a solution."
LEARNING IMPACT
Six competencies you can finally measure.
Communication Skills
Active listening, articulating ideas, and navigating difficult counterpart responses under pressure.
Stakeholder Management
Understanding diverse perspectives and aligning multiple conflicting priorities to find a path forward.
Critical Thinking
Analysing problems deeper, identifying root causes, and avoiding the trap of surface-level assumptions.
Decision Making
Making informed trade-offs under time constraints, incomplete information, and emotional stress.
Negotiation Skills
Building consensus, anchoring expectations, and managing concessions without damaging the relationship.
Empathy & Leadership
Developing emotional intelligence to read the room and adjust conversational tactics in real-time.
Students gain practical, real-world skills beyond theoretical knowledge.
NEXT STEP
A 30-minute conversation. Then a pilot, if it makes sense.
We are not asking for a procurement decision. We are asking for one conversation. Here is what we'd cover:
- ° Your programme's challenge. Which courses have stated outcomes around interpersonal or professional competence? How are those outcomes currently assessed? Where is the gap biggest?
- ° A scenario that matters. If you could put every student through one practice conversation before they graduate, what would it be?
- ° Your accreditation reality. Which cycle are you in? Where is your evidence thinnest?
- ° A pilot. Would you be open to running a single simulation with one batch of 30 to 60 students, so you can see the data, the debriefs, and the accreditation artefacts before committing further?
FROM THE COHORT
What students took away from the simulation.
"Logic wins the argument, but empathy closes the deal."
"Effective selling is less about pitching at the right moment — more about listening at the right moment."
"Decisions are influenced by timing, pressure, and different priorities — not just data."
"Real problems are rarely just technical — they're emotional and systemic."
"The same problem affects different stakeholders in different ways."
"Strongest conversations happen when you help the customer think clearly under stress."
"Logic explains what needs to be done; empathy determines how it gets done."
"Effective problem-solving starts with listening, not selling."
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Questions worth answering before you pilot.
The gap in professional education
Why can students pass exams on communication or selling but still struggle in real conversations?
Because exams and assignments test what students can explain: frameworks, definitions, structured answers. A sceptical customer, a defensive employee, or an anxious patient does not reward textbook language.
Put students in a live conversation and many freeze, default to jargon, or jump to a solution before they understand the problem. They were taught well. They were rarely asked to do the conversation under realistic pressure. Altius™ closes that gap: practise, debrief, repeat.
What does the employability gap look like in practice, and what do recruiters say is missing?
Placement cells hear it every year. Graduates know theory but struggle in professional conversations: discovery calls, client meetings, feedback sessions, negotiations. Recruiters want application under pressure, not just framework fluency on a CV.
Students spend hundreds of hours preparing for exams. They spend almost no time practising the interactions they will have in their first job. The gap shows up in interviews, internships, and early performance reviews. The marksheet does not catch it.
How do I assess 60 students on communication skills without running 60 individual role-plays?
You cannot. Not with integrity, not in the time you have. Even at ten minutes per student, one exercise is ten hours of facilitation plus feedback. Group role-plays mean only two students practise while others watch, and the "customer" is another student who cannot push back convincingly.
Altius™ runs an adaptive, private conversation with every student in the same week. Each gets a 15–25 exchange simulation and a detailed coaching debrief. You review aggregate patterns ("32 of 58 scored below 3 on probing depth") and drill into individual transcripts when you need to, without running the room yourself.
What is CO/PO attainment evidence for soft skills, and why are written exams insufficient?
Outcome-Based Education requires you to show students attained stated outcomes, not just sat through a course. For technical subjects, exams work. For outcomes like "conduct a consultative sales conversation" or "deliver constructive feedback," written exams test whether students can describe the skill, not do it.
CO/PO attainment for soft skills needs direct assessment of behaviour under pressure. Altius™ maps rubric criteria to your Course Outcomes; the percentage of students above a threshold on those criteria becomes your attainment metric: auditable, timestamped, and individual.
Why doesn't the case method develop students' ability to hold a real professional conversation?
Students learn to think about a conversation. The case method rarely teaches them to have one.
Cases develop analytical thinking well. The customer in the case does not push back when the student pitches too early. The CEO does not get defensive. The vendor does not change position based on what the student says.
Altius™ is the layer that comes after: the briefing reads like a case, then the stakeholder talks back, adapting to what the student does in real time.
Why is internship evidence often thin when accreditation panels review experiential learning?
Most SSR folders show participation: attendance logs, certificates, supervisor sign-offs. Panels increasingly ask whether experiential learning produced competence, not just exposure.
Internships are realistic but uncontrolled; evidence is often a subjective rating or a completion letter. Altius™ adds standardised, scored, transcript-backed assessment of a realistic professional interaction: rigour closer to an exam, realism closer to the workplace.
What pedagogical innovation can an institution credibly claim if it deploys Altius?
You can credibly claim simulation-based, direct assessment of professional conversational competence, with evidence panels can actually inspect. Not a buzzword in the Self-Study Report, but timestamped transcripts, per-criterion behaviour scores, and cohort analytics mapped to your Course Outcomes.
That sits between exams (rigorous but artificial) and internships (realistic but unstandardised). For NAAC, NBA, NEP, and international frameworks, it supports narratives around experiential learning, outcome-based assessment, and industry-ready graduates, with artefacts IQAC can actually file.
Pedagogy, assessment, and accreditation
Is Altius a replacement for the case method?
No. It complements it. Cases develop analytical thinking; Altius™ develops conversational competence. The student reads a contextual briefing (like a case), then enters a live conversation where the stakeholder responds to what they do.
Use cases to teach students to analyse the decision. Use Altius™ to make them make it: under pressure, with pushback, with consequences in the dialogue.
How does Altius differ from a viva voce or group presentation for assessing soft skills?
A viva tests articulation in a controlled, faculty-dependent setting, hard to standardise across examiners.
Presentations are followed by panels that question and probe. But a panel can only engage with what was presented to them. They cannot introduce what the student was never given: a hidden concern the student has to uncover, a persona who becomes guarded when pitched too early, or an emotional register that shifts based on what the student does and says.
Altius™ brings that dimension in. It is a two-way, adaptive conversation in which the student discovers information through what they ask, not just through what they present. Scoring is behaviour-level against defined criteria, consistent for every student. Every student faces the same scenario and the same standard, with a full transcript for faculty moderation.
How does Altius help generate NAAC accreditation evidence for experiential learning?
NAAC Criterion 2 (Teaching-Learning and Evaluation) and Criterion 5 (Student Support and Progression) expect evidence of innovative pedagogy and experiential learning, including outcomes, not just activity logs.
Altius™ provides simulation-based assessment with timestamped transcripts, per-student behaviour scores, qualitative coaching feedback, and cohort analytics. That documents both that experiential learning occurred and what it produced: a stronger category of proof than attendance sheets or project cover pages alone.
Which accreditation frameworks does Altius map to? (NAAC, NBA, NEP 2020, AACSB, EQUIS, AMBA)
| Framework | What the framework asks for | What Altius™ provides | What still needs manual documentation |
|---|---|---|---|
| NAAC | Criterion 2 (Teaching-Learning): evidence of innovative pedagogy beyond lecture and exam. Criterion 5 (Student Support): evidence that students developed professional competence, not just knowledge. | Timestamped transcripts, per-criterion behaviour scores, and qualitative feedback for every student. Documents that experiential learning occurred and what competence it produced. | Links to SSR sections; faculty moderation records; narrative for IQAC folder. |
| NBA | Quantitative CO/PO attainment for each stated Course Outcome and Programme Outcome, including communication and interpersonal outcomes. Direct assessment is stronger than inferential evidence. | Per-student scores on rubric criteria mapped to your COs at scenario design time. Attainment % = students above threshold / total enrolled, using the standard OBE formula. CO–rubric crosswalk documented at setup. | CO–PO matrix; attainment calculation worksheet; cohort-level export (roadmap). |
| NEP 2020 | Outcome-based education: demonstrate that students can apply knowledge, not just recall it. Experiential learning at programme level with measurable outcomes. | Simulation is the experiential activity. Transcript and scores are the measurement. Competence is assessed through what students do in the conversation, directly. | Programme-level narrative linking simulation to NEP competency goals. |
| AACSB | Assurance of Learning (AoL): direct assessment of programme-level learning goals using validated instruments across multiple assessment cycles. | Simulation and scenario rubric as a direct AoL instrument for communication, interpersonal, and professional competence goals. Rubric maps to programme-level AoL goals at design time. | Goal rubric crosswalk; sampling plan per AoL cycle; documentation for Continuous Improvement report. |
| EQUIS | Practical relevance: students engage with realistic professional contexts and industry-calibrated interactions, not just academic cases. | Scenarios built from real professional conversations: a sceptical client, a regulatory counterpart, a defensive stakeholder. Students practise the actual dynamics of the job. | Industry advisory evidence; documentation of how scenarios were calibrated to professional practice. |
| AMBA | Innovation in programme design and delivery. Evidence of professional skills development beyond traditional coursework. | AI-powered simulation practice as a credible programme differentiator. Transcripts and scores as structured evidence of professional skills development. | Innovation narrative in programme self-study report. |
The table above maps Altius™ to each framework at a general level. Clause-level mapping to your specific CO/PO matrix, SSR structure, or AoL plan requires a short programme-specific walkthrough. We can provide that alongside sample score exports and an anonymised transcript for your accreditation lead to review.
Is the AI persona just a chatbot, or does it adapt to how the learner handles the conversation?
It adapts continuously, responding to each student's choices rather than matching preset keywords. The persona has a role, backstory, and hidden concerns. If a student acknowledges a crisis and probes root causes, the persona opens up. If they ignore context and pitch, it stays closed.
That is what makes it the next layer after case studies: the case study talks back. The conversation runs 15–25 exchanges, long enough for a real dynamic and short enough for realistic time pressure in a course schedule.
In a pilot with a business school cohort, students practised with Kabir Mehta, a CPO mid-crisis: customs hold, a Diwali deadline, 70% of his attention on firefighting. Students who acknowledged the crisis before asking about the product found a persona who opened up; students who led with a pitch found one who stayed closed and said so. 94% rated the experience good or excellent; 8 in 10 said it deepened their understanding more than a lecture alone. The best way to see how it behaves is to run a scenario. Try a scenario →
Does every student get a unique conversation, or can they look up what someone else said?
Every conversation is unique because the persona responds to what each student says, how they say it, and what they leave out. There is no fixed script to memorise or share as "the right answers."
Students cannot look up a classmate's path and replay it; the dialogue branches on their choices. For integrity, treat Altius™ like any authentic assessment: design rubrics that reward genuine probing and reflection, combine with your own domain grading where needed, and use timestamps and transcripts for moderation. Faculty remain the authority on professional accuracy in law, medicine, and other regulated disciplines; Altius™ assesses how students communicate.
Implementation
How much faculty time is required to set up and run an Altius simulation?
Setup: You describe the conversation, counterpart, and competences to assess, typically in one collaborative brief. We design the persona, briefing, and rubric; you review and iterate. Live in one to two weeks. The full faculty path is on this page under How we set this up.
During the run: Students complete simulations asynchronously. You monitor completion on the dashboard and can read any transcript. Cohort patterns (for example, "most of the batch struggled on probing depth") come from faculty-or-specialist analysis of the Altius evaluation, used in debrief and teaching: less time grading individual performances, more time using those insights in class.
Do students need to install an app or log into our LMS to use Altius?
No app install. Students use a browser on phone or laptop. They receive a magic link by email, read the briefing, and start. LMS integration is not required, though we can discuss it if your institution wants single sign-on or grade passback later.
What does the accreditation evidence actually look like, and what goes into the SSR or IQAC folder?
Per student, Altius™ generates a full conversation transcript (timestamped messages), per-criterion behaviour scores from the scenario rubric, an overall score with qualitative summary, strengths, and areas to improve, plus session start and completion timestamps.
For attainment, you apply your threshold (e.g. ≥3/5 on mapped criteria) and calculate the percentage of students who meet it per Course Outcome, using the standard OBE formula. The evidence bundle for moderators typically includes score exports, sample transcripts, and the CO–rubric mapping table you define when you set up the scenario.
Can Altius be used as a graded assignment, or is it only for practice?
Both. Many programmes use it as a graded assignment: the simulation is the assessment; the debrief supplies formative detail; overall and criterion scores feed your gradebook. Others use it as low-stakes practice before a viva or live presentation.
You set the weighting, the threshold, and the number of attempts. The platform does not impose a limit; faculty decide whether students have one attempt or several. For graded use, most faculty choose a single attempt, with separate ungraded practice runs available beforehand to prepare students for the real thing. Faculty can review transcripts for moderation the same way they would review exam scripts.
What does the student experience look like from start to finish?
Briefing: Student opens the link and reads a contextual scenario brief (like prep before a real meeting). Conversation: 15–25 exchanges with an adaptive AI persona in a chat interface. Analysis: The simulation ends. Altius™ generates a structured analysis: transcript, per-criterion behaviour scores, strengths, and areas to develop. Students see a coaching prose preview on `/debrief`; scores stay with faculty or the specialist. Debrief: Faculty or the programme specialist reviews the full analysis and delivers a personalised coaching debrief to each student.
No passwords to remember (magic-link access). Typical session fits a class period or homework window.
What evidence shows Altius actually changes behaviour, beyond engagement metrics?
In higher-education pilots, 94% of students rated the simulation good or excellent, and 8 in 10 said it deepened their understanding more than a lecture alone. Rated 4.4/5 overall.
The self-report is one signal. The more durable evidence is in the transcript: each student's full conversation retained alongside per-criterion behaviour scores, showing how they opened, whether they probed before pitching, how they handled pushback. Cohort patterns tell you where a batch is strong and where they need more work before facing these conversations in the field. Faculty retain both for programme review and accreditation documentation.
Assess competence, not just memory.
- ° Run a pilot with one cohort of 30–60 students.
- ° See the transcripts, scores, and debriefs yourself.
- ° No platform licence. No annual contract.
